How to choose a boiler system.

Your guide to getting a new boiler system.

Choosing a boiler.

What do I need to consider when choosing a new boiler?

When you’re choosing a new boiler system for your house, there are several factors that you need to consider:

  1. Understanding your heating requirement: What size boiler will you need so your home is warm enough in winter and you have hot water when you need it.

  2. Types of boilers: Familiarize yourself with different types of boilers available in the market.

  3. Fuel type: Common options include natural gas, oil, propane, and electric boilers.

  4. Efficiency ratings: Look for boilers with high energy efficiency ratings. This means they’ll waste less energy when heating the water.

  5. How much space you need: Can you fit in a separate hot water cylinder/cold water storage tank.

What size boiler do I need?

Whether you’re in a one-bedroom flat or a four-bedroom house, it’s important to consider the boiler size you need to have hot water and heating when you need it.

Importantly, boiler size refers to the output in kW rather than the physical size of the boiler. The higher the heating output the more hot water it produces, however if you have too large an output for your home then you’ll be wasting energy.

We’ve put together a handy guide so you can see what size boiler is right for your home.

What types of boilers are available?

There are three main types of boilers available:

  • Combi boilers.

  • Regular boilers.

  • System boilers.

Each of these boiler types have different advantages and disadvantages, so it’s important that when you’re picking a new boiler you choose the right one for you and your home.
